I am a lover of movies of all kinds but I generally enjoy a good scary/thriller movie. I grew up in the era of bad but classic horror movies like Halloween, Friday the 13th etc but I do not like the slasher type of movie. I prefer ones with a story like a haunting or crank callers who are calling from inside the house type of plot lol. So I came across this movie on Showtime called The Caller starring Rahcelle Lefevre. She is not a well known actress but she was in Twilight and so I decided to watch it.
The movie is centered around the main character of Mary Kee. She is a young divorcee who moves into this old apartment building and starts receiving weird phone calls from an older lady named Mary. Mary becomes very demanding and insists that the two of them become friends. Mary Kee agrees to the friendship until the lady reveals she is calling from the past. This spooks Mary Kee and she decides to break off the friendship when Mary on the phone admits to killing her boyfriend. Mary becomes angry and takes revenge out on Mary Kee. Mary is psycho and has access to Mary Kee and her family when Mary Kee is a child, since she lives in the past. So anything that Mary does to her as a child will effect her in the future day.
This movie totally freaked me out I have to admit it, I was totally into it and it really is a true thriller movie. I liked that it was not your typical movie and that it had to do with dealing with the past and the present. I have never in my whole life been afraid of an old lady before, the actress that played Mary did an excellent job although you never really see her face. She did a very convincing act and her voice is creepy. If you like movies that are scary and have a thriller mystery to it then you will enjoy this movie. The supporting cast in the movie was good as well, Stephen Moyer starred in this for any of you True Blood fans.
So next time you are on Netflicks or going to a movie rental place pick up a copy of The Caller.
