Over the past few months I have become addicted to audio books through Audible.com. With a super busy schedule it is easier to go through books this way and very entertaining. I have come across quite a few awesome books and I will be sharing with you my reviews on them. Today I will be giving you my review on one of my favorites called The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. This book is amazingly awesome and thrilling! It reminded me a lot of Gone Girl, very suspenseful and many surprise twists.
The story centers around the main character Rachel who is a passenger on a train that travels the same route everyday. She watches a couple, through the window of the train and makes up stories in her head about them. To her they are the perfect couple. One day she notices that the lady is gone and finds out on the news she is missing. The story goes on to show Rachel’s life in the present and the past and how it connects to the lady that is missing. Rachel is an alcoholic who suffers from blackouts on her drinking binges. She is reeling from the divorce from her husband and how she lost her job due to her drinking. Rachel’s past has a weird connection to the missing lady and the story goes back and forth from different characters points of views. It is riveting and will keep you guessing until the very end.
Audio Book and Story
The story focuses on three main women characters Rachel the girl on the train, Anna the new wife of Rachel’s ex-husband and Megan the missing girl. All three characters are well written and the audio performances are well done. This book gives you first person narratives from three different view points and moves from past to present and back again. The story is full of surprises and will leave you stunned with the outcome. To say that you will not see the ending is an understatement. The way the author wrote the story she did a great job of not letting out too many details until the very end.
I highly recommend this book and the audio is fantastic. This will keep you entertained for hours and in the end you will wish there was more to the story! Best read that I have done all year so far one of my favorites! You can watch the trailer for the movie starring Emily Blunt that will be coming out on October 7th, 2016. I am very excited for the movie.
